Guest Writers and Non-Knight Characters
As written by the Guild Steward, Sir Dirk
Definitions:
For this rule, the terms "guest" and "character" refer to any character, written by anyone, that is not an initiated Mithril Knight, or an approved Knight-in-Training.
"Manager" refers to the Mithril Knight responsible for coherence and continuity within an individual Mithril Knight RP. In other words, for each tale, someone will be explicitly in charge. For Guardians of Middle-earth, it's little ol' me. For individual KiT tales, the specific Mentor Knight is in charge, with the Knight Marshal overseeing the entire KiT thread.
Policy:
- Anyone wishing to write a non-Mithril Knight character in a Mithril Knight RP needs to email the manager of that story with a little background on the character and how he/she fits into the story. If the manager is unsure he or she can consult with any Knight they wish. However, it will be up to the manager to decide whether or not that character may join into the story.
- As with all of us and in all tales, it is the Knight Seneschal's duty to ensure Tolkien continuity.
- The GuildMaster, or in her absence the Guild Steward, as well as the manager who originally allowed the guest will have the right to revoke a guest's "welcome" based on poor/inappropriate posting. In keeping with the sense of fairness that the MK's have always maintained, such a revocation should only come after adequate warning and attempts to correct, save extreme cases, such as TOS violations, Star Trek/Wars references, or theft of Guild Steward's donuts, amongst other things.
- There's plenty of room for exceptions to this rule. It will up to the manager of the story to make determinations on a case-by-case basis.
- It probably goes without saying, but I'm going to say it anyway, initiated Knights (characters that have witnessed the Giliath Londe) may participate in any way they wish, within the bounds of the storyline and Tolkien's world.
